Stomach Flu Part Two

Yes, there is a part two to the stomach flu.

Let me give you the background a bit.  Chloe had it Monday, Tony had it Tuesday.  And that was pretty much it.

Friday night, I decided to have a few friends over.  It was just four of us.  Tony was gone, and the kids went to bed.  We started around 7:00, and that usually means we’re around until 11 or 12-ish.

Well, an entire case of Michelob Ultra and almost a whole bottle of Smirnoff Pomegranate later, it was 4:00 in the morning.  None of us are quite sure how that happened, but it did.  I did a quick clean up and went to bed.

At 7:00 a.m. the kids tried (TRIED) to wake me up.  I convinced them to leave me in bed until 8.  I came downstairs, threw some cereal at them, and plopped on the couch.  I felt icky.  Headache, nausea.  But not your normal hungover and dying of thirst stuff.  I chalked it up to the hangover, and decided that I would just feel better if I prayed to the porcelain god.  Off I went, and I did the deed.  But I didn’t feel ANY better.

An hour later, I did it again.

I still didn’t feel any better.

I drank some Gatorade.

And I did it again.

I chewed on some crushed ice.

And I did it again.

Six times, I met with that porcelain god.

It wasn’t fun.   I had zero coffee (which would explain my big ol’ headache), and come 5:30 in the afternoon, I still hadn’t smoked even one cigarette all day.  I started feeling a bit better around then, and ordered some pizza for the kids.  I managed to eat a piece and keep it down…I was feeling better.

I do have to say that the kids were fantastic!  They tried to help me out, managed to play together nicely, and only made a moderate mess.  Love them (and I owe them…I promised them a trip to Build-A-Bear).

Today, I felt fantastic.  Granted, I woke up at 5:15 because I went to bed with the girls at 9:00, but I felt great.  I had coffee, I smoked, I ate everything that looked appetizing (including pasta salad, cheese flavored Ruffles and some pumpkin roll).

That HAD to be the stomach flu.  The good news?  I figure that it’s good I got the stomach flu and the hangover on the same day…it was only one day out of commission instead of two :)

Ugh!!!! Sorry that you had the flu! Know what you mean about those nights that the case of beer somehow disappeared! Harder to recover as we get older! Pumpkin roll…..mmmmm sounds good!! Take care, Kerri
