Magical Earbuds

My kids like Kidz Bop.  I do not.  I think that there are many parents who could also write those two sentences.

So, I decided that I would buy each of the kids an MP3 player.  I found some on clearance at Target (they even have Spongebob on them!).  Fifteen bucks a piece.  I brought them home and loaded Kidz Bop on each of them.  They’ve been bopping around the house doing this:

If you couldn’t figure it out, that’s the Kidz Bop version of Pink’s “So What.”  So, the MP3 player doesn’t exactly keep the house quiet, but I get to hear Becca and Chloe’s voices instead of the kids from Kidz Bop.

When we were getting in the car yesterday (and they had their MP3 players with them) I realized that they could plug those little ear buds right into the DVD players.  They got very excited, and decided to watch some Scooby Doo.  And then the magic happened.

I didn’t hear any fighting, I didn’t hear any Scooby Doo.  I got to pick a radio station FOR MYSELF and I actually GOT TO HEAR IT.  It was the most quiet car ride I’ve had with the kids.  Ever.  I felt like I was twenty five again.

I think I’m ready for a road trip :)

Rock star Chloe! She looks like little Heather but she sounds different. She goes to her own beat. This is Mom stealing Ray’s.

I freaking HATE Kids Bop. It is blasphmony (sp?) There is no need for any adult to be subjected to annoying as shit kids singing songs that were perfectly good. Now, I do object to them listening to questionable lyrics at very young ages. This is why I have to put each song on my son’s iPod instead of as an entire list. Amazing how few songs I could share with him . . . Ummmmm . . .
